Pre-Procedure Instructions
Instructions to Follow Before Your Procedure
Fasting
Do not eat or drink anything after midnight on the day of your procedure. This includes water, coffee, tea, gum, or candy.
Medications
Bring a list of all your medications, including dosages, to the center.
Follow your physician’s instructions regarding medications to take or hold. For example:
Blood thinners (e.g., warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel): Follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
If you take Aspirin and Plavix, please continue to take unless otherwise indicated not to do so prior to procedure
Diabetes medications: Do not take oral diabetes medications on the morning of your procedure unless instructed otherwise.
Insulin users: Take half your usual morning dose unless instructed otherwise.
Transportation
Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home after your procedure. You will not be allowed to drive yourself.
Ensure your driver remains on-site or is available to pick you up after the procedure.
Clothing
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid wearing jewelry, makeup, lotions, or perfume.
Leave all valuables at home.
Pre-Procedure Hygiene
Shower the evening before or the morning of the procedure using antibacterial soap, focusing on the groin area where the catheter may be inserted.
Shaving of the procedure site may occur
Health Updates
Notify the center immediately if you develop a fever, cold, flu-like symptoms, or any other illness prior to the procedure.
Inform the staff if you have any allergies to medications, iodine, or latex.
Checklist of items to bring
Government-issued photo ID.
Insurance card(s) and payment (if applicable).
Please do not bring any valuables to the center on the day of procedure.
